How to check a UK Gambling Commission licence, step by step

Find the account number, search the public register and confirm the licence, the activity and the domain — with real examples.

The Gambling Commission publishes every licence in a public register. Checking a casino takes a couple of minutes.

1. Find the account number

UK licensed casinos must show their licensing details. Look in the footer for the company name and a Gambling Commission account number.

2. Search the register

Go to gamblingcommission.gov.uk, open the public register and search by account number or company name.

3. Check the licence

The account should be active and hold a remote casino licence. A remote betting licence alone does not cover casino games.

4. Check the domain

The register lists the domain names used under each account. The casino's address should be there, marked as the operator's domain or as a white label.

5. Watch out for old numbers

Accounts change when companies restructure. In our list, 32Red, Casumo and Sky Vegas all moved to new accounts; the old ones remain in the register as surrendered.

Red flags

No account number, a number that does not match the company, a domain that is not in the register, or a licence from Curaçao or elsewhere presented as enough for UK players.
